When the Internet was young, search engine traffic came at a premium price. Websites could buy their way into search engine listings, but there was no guarantee that the purchase would result in a significant amount of traffic.

Today, the rules are much different. In some ways it is much easier to get great traffic from search engines, but in other ways it is even harder. A website has to have a lot of clout before Google or Yahoo will list it in their top returns, but there are many ways to make your site more attractive to the search engines.

If you’re trying to build traffic for a blog, the best thing you can do for increased traffic is to blog and ping. This slightly humorous-sounding term simply means that you let blog directories know each time you make a new blog post.

By cluing in the blog directories whenever you add a new blog post, you’re building traffic in two ways. You might get an initial rush of traffic from the blog directory as readers click through to see your new entry. The real magic happens when the search engines follow the link from the blog directory back to your blog.

The search engine then finds other material to index. As you keep getting more links to your blog, the search engine has more pages to index. Eventually you will find your blog turning up in searches. You will not be in the top couple of pages right away, but you will see your search engine traffic rise.

Blog and ping might sound a little complicated, but it is actually very easy. Most major blog platforms ping the major blog directories automatically. If you want to ping a blog directory that is not listed in their default list, you can usually add it manually.

What if you don’t actually have a blog yet? Well, it is time to hop on the bandwagon. Blogs are useful for conveying your personal thoughts to anyone and everyone, about whatever subjects you choose. You can keep in touch with far-away relatives or just give yourself a creative outlet.

Lately, though… blogs are used quite often as marketing tools for businesses. The business blog can take many forms, from an informal journal kept by a CEO to a formal, frequently-updated record of new products.

Setting up a new blog is not difficult at all, and you have several options to do it. Most often, new bloggers set up a blog with one of the popular blogging platforms. These platforms offer standard templates, or you can create your own to match your company’s color scheme or your personal preferences.

Once your blog is set up and ready to go, don’t forget to make sure that it pings every blog directory possible. Blogging without pinging the blog directories is like spinning your wheels: you are doing something, but you are not making any progress.

If your blogging platform does not support pinging or does not submit to the directories you want, you can use software to accomplish the same thing. It is available under many different titles, but the basic function is to take your most recent blog post and send it to several blog directories. Your links start building up, your search engine traffic increases, and you are one happy blogger.

First, as the owner of your business, you need to have a clear idea in your mind of what you’re looking for from your website. Perhaps you just want an internet presence for your business, or maybe you want something more dynamic. If you’re not sure what you want, then take the time to do some research. Take a look at what other similar businesses are doing and write down what you like (and what you don’t like!). Start to make a list of what features you feel your site must have (request form, forum, etc.). You should also start to list out the individual pages you want to see developed (about us, services, etc.). You are now creating an official RFQ (request for quote) document that you can present to a potential web designer for review. Once you’ve developed an outline for your site, you should also make some notes about your preferences when it comes to the site design and layout. If you want a flash intro or background music or some other design element, you need to note that. Put all your notes into a Word document and save it for later.

Next, you’ll need to solicit bids from interested web designers. Include a brief description of what you want your site to be, and invite interested designers to contact you with their information.

At this point, you should not expect full-blown estimates or proposals. No professional is going to be prepared to give you a quote on a project without having talked to you or seen your RFQ. Instead, you should concentrate on weeding out the designers who don’t meet your expectations.

So, what should you expect?

Good Communication
Right off the bat, any communication from a potential designer should be professional, clear, and friendly. It’s extremely important that the designer you choose is a good communicator. First, you have to work with this individual and if they can’t communicate well with you, the project will prove more difficult to complete. Second, you will be depending on him or her to independently create certain aspects of your website. You cannot write everything for them. If they aren’t able to communicate well, it will be reflected in their work and therefore make your site, and you, look unprofessional.

Previous Work
Next, your interested designer should be able to present some examples of their work, preferably in the form of a portfolio page within their own website. Assuming they have their own website, look at that first. Do you like it? Does it look professional? Would you consider them based solely on their website? A website should be a reflection of that business. If a web designer’s own website is poor, then they do not understand the purpose of a business website and you can move on.

Assuming their own website is up to snuff, then you should check out their portfolio. Take a look at the sites they’ve done for other businesses, particularly if there are some sites similar to your own model, and see what you think. If, on the whole, you’re not impressed with their work, move on to a different designer.

Personality & Knowledge
If you’re comfortable with the quality of work from a particular designer, it’s time to talk to them on the phone. They should be comfortable talking about themselves and what they can do for you, and pleasant to deal with. Remember, this is someone that’s going to become an integral part of your business, at least for a while. You need to feel confident that they can do the job and that you’ll be able to work with them.

Price
Once you’ve articulated exactly what you’re looking for, the designer should be able to give you a quote on the project. Certainly, the price needs to be an important consideration, but don’t let it make your decision for you. If someone gives you a particularly high price on a project, you need to consider the quality of their work and decide if it is marginally better than everyone else, and if they’re worth it. Similarly, if someone gives you a particularly low price, you need to consider their motivation as well. Do they simply produce cheap work, or are they trying to establish themselves and therefore charging below market rates. If you’re lucky enough to find someone in that situation who meets your other requirements, hire them immediately!

Local vs. Remote
Because of the nature of websites, most projects can be easily completed without ever having any face-to-face meetings between designer and client. Business owners should not feel any hesitation in hiring a remote designer, at least one within the U.S.

Certainly, there are specific projects which may require face time, but in general, those clients that insist on dealing with local designers are only limiting themselves to local talent and rates.

Business Experience
In your emails and conversations with your designer, you should also gauge their business experience. You’re going to be depending on him or her to give you suggestions on how to build your site to better your business. If, for instance, the designer has no sales experience, how can they ensure your website fits into your sales process? Additionally, a good designer will question every aspect of the site from a good business perspective and offer you advice to that end. For instance, the flash intro you wanted for your site may look outstanding, but a good designer might suggest that, while attractive, it does not actually benefit your business, and could potentially do more harm than good by deterring visitors who cannot view flash, or preventing search engines from searching your website. If your designer gives you a suggestion to improve your site, but one that will end up reducing their fees, then you know that this designer truly has your best interests at heart.

Search Engine Understanding
Finally, your new designer must understand how to build a site so that it is search engine friendly. This is typically where inexperienced designers fall short, so don’t skip this step! Ask them how they plan to make your site optimized for search engines. Going back to their ability to communicate; they should be able to explain what they’re going to do in a way that you can understand without any previous knowledge of SEO.

If the essential purpose of a website is to generate money, then the prime step should be to turn site visitors into customers! When internet users land on your website, what do they do with it? The answer is simple - Whatever you want them to! To make this a reality, you need to lead them by hand. Define a clear Action Path for your visitors, which includes precise visual clues to lead them through your information to the prize shopping cart, or subscription plan.

Here is how to define an appropriate action plan for your website.
Space is a powerful element in website design and can be an influential factor in how visitors use your website. The appropriate placement of elements can play a vital role in defining user behavior on your site.

The prime rule in defining Action Paths is not to make visitors scroll to find actions. Keep all the call-to-action tabs like ‘Click Here’ or ‘Subscribe Here’ above the fold. The majority of the world population reads from left-to-right and top-to-bottom. So, keep all the vital elements within these areas. Also remember that elements of design supersede text elements, that is to say that images are more important and prominent than words. In a split second that users take to scan through your text, they take in scattered bits of data such as the headings, pictures, search boxes, links etc.

Balance is not the same as regularity. While regularity ensures a clean layout and consistency in the web page, balance is essential for users to concentrate on certain elements. It’s better to create an asymmetrical space when you are trying to draw attention to specific actions on the web page. And the best way to do this is by creating a balance between images and white space. And an obvious consequence of making visitors at ease with their pathways, is retaining them on the site and generating further business.

White space is the space between columns, the space around images, and the space between text blocks. Leaving certain sections of your website empty makes visitors concentrate on other areas of the page. Lending space to the design gives a flow and allows for a comfortable user experience. A comfortable user-experience promotes your credibility and prompts them to invest their faith and money in your company. Thus, your visitors will convert to be your customers.

The colors that you use on your website play a vital role in its online success. It not only sets the tone of the web page but also calls attention to specific sections. And colors influence the psychology of people too. Different colors trigger different emotional responses in people. So a wise choice of colors can help you make the users do what you intend them to do. For example, setting your call to action in red, or a color that contrasts the general scheme of the page, stands apart and focuses visitors.

Create a noticeable pattern through your website. This way you create a sense of expectation in the users and they become more comfortable. Patterns can be of several types like ‘title-content-title-content’ format, lists or tabular data, etc. Blue underlined links are perhaps the most powerful pattern type in recent times. A major advantage of adhering to web standards is that visitors know what they are meant to do immediately. This is not to say that you cannot break the rules. But only after understanding the rules… can you then know when it is advantageous to break them.

The web hosting industry has become increasingly competitive and there are a myriad of companies out there battling for your business, but some won’t have you or your business interests in mind. Cheap web site hosting doesn’t mean the best hosting, and neither does signing up with the most expensive companies that “guarantee” you the best service. It is a confusing world of solutions with a lot of smoke and mirrors.

Competition is a great thing, but the frenzied levels of promotion have also forced a number of hosts to use questionable marketing tactics and a heavy load of activity with restricting fine print in their contracts. Many webhosting companies don’t make profits by establishing a solid customer base, but rather by having a high turnover. The more customers they have signing up and then dropping off… the more dollars they make. Of course, not all hosting services take this attitude and there are some solid companies that respect their clients.

Finding the Right Host
Finding these gems amongst the rot is always the challenge. Some webmasters have to change hosting services 3 or 4 times a year! The downtime involved prevents them doing what they do best which is maintaining and developing their sites. Regardless of how good a hosting service may claim to be or how they represent themselves, the only way you’ll truly understand what they are offering is to ask questions and find out what others are saying about them.

1. Can I upgrade my plan at any time?
(A good hosting service will allow you to change your plan at any time)

2. What are your excess bandwidth charges?
(Although unlikely you will get excess traffic during the start-up phase, it is important to know how much you will be charged if you use over and above your quota of data transfer. Data transfer or “bandwidth” refers to the amount of data going in and out of your site e.g. (every time someone visits your website they are downloading data).

3. How often will my site be backed up?
(In a number of cases, you’ll find that the cheaper the price, the less likely your site will be backed up on a regular basis)

4. Do you offer secure server and ecommerce capabilities (shopping carts etc.) included or as an upgrade?
(You may not want this in the beginning but it is quite handy to have)

5. Do you offer an affiliate program or referrer bonuses?
(If you settle with a host and you are happy with the service, no doubt you’ll tell others. Why not profit from that as it can subsidize the running of your site or even turn into a good earner for you!)

6. Is your free tech support available 7 days a week?
(A VERY important point - many offer this but sometimes all you’ll get is a recorder or autoresponder message on the weekends. Telephone support is not a necessity for everyone but very nice. A good email or online ticket based support system can often work efficiently too as it provides a record for both parties.

7. Why should I choose you over other hosts offering the same sorts of features and pricing?
These questions and points are just to get you started in the reviews process and will allow you to weed out many of the fly-by-nighters. It may seem like a lot to ask, but an experienced staffer should be able to complete the questions very quickly. Always be polite when posing questions as the answers will be provided by a human being with feelings as well. By asking questions in a courteous manner, you will get the relationship off to a good start.

When composing the email, skip a couple of lines between each question to encourage the person responding to put their remarks under the relevant question. This will give you a good record to refer back to in the future. Lastly, it is definitely a good idea to respond to each response with a brief thank you note.

It is 17 miles in circumference and located 300 feet below French and Swiss soil. It is basically a circular cannon that runs in a massive loop, where protons will be accelerated to 99.9% the speed of light in opposite directions, only to collide with one another at 800 million times per second, in an attempt to recreate the “The Big Bang”. The first particles were successfully accelerated this morning at 10:28am… and scientists remain on schedule for the first collisions to occur in a few weeks.

Whether you want a new website designed for your company or are looking to re-design your website, finding the right web design company for your needs is the first and most crucial step to ultimately decide its success or failure. Unless your are an established business with an in-house web design team, the chances are that you will need to either hire a professional web designer, or contract a web design company to do this for you.

Most businesses small or large do not have in-house expertise to design websites themselves and have to contract the work out to an external web design company. The importance of a professionally designed website is essential. A poorly designed, or an outdated website, can have a negative impact on your company’s brand and drive customers away to your competitors. A company’s website is a window to its products and services and often the first point of contact with customers. It is vital for your website to present the right image and brand for your business.

Should you work with a Web design company or a Freelance Web designer?
Whether your website is designed by an independent contractor or a web design company, you will need to consider certain issues before you make the decision. Both working with an independent web designer or a web design company have their advantages. Working with an independent web designer can be cost effective and flexible. Working with web design companies on the other hand may cost more but offers significant advantages. They are represented by a team of web designers who often possess wider skills and experience. Each member of the team will often specialise in a distinct area of website design and development, and will often be able to solve complex business issues with ease. Working with a web design company will provide your business with easy access to support when required, or when something goes wrong.

Factors to consider when selecting a Web Design Company to design your website.

Experience and Skills
Analyse their experience and technical skills. Review the information on their website and marketing materials. Better still speak to them personally, as often a direct conversation about your project will give you a much clear idea of their knowledge and expertise.

Portfolio and case studies
Review and analyse their portfolio or case studies. This is usually available via their website. Reviewing other software or websites designed by the web design company can provide useful information and determine their suitability for your project.

A streamlined process with a fast turn around time
Understand the web design company’s process to see how it fits within your requirements.

Ask for a detailed proposal outlining costs, timescales and proposed solution.
A professional web design company will always submit a detailed proposal outlining theses issues.

One stop shop
Think forward. Determine what other products and services the web design company can offer. If you require web design now, chances are you will need additional services in the future such as web hosting, search engine marketing, content management systems, and so on. It can be daunting and an administrative nightmare to deal with many different companies for different services.

Long term relationship
Focus on building a long term relationship with the web design company. It is better to go for a company that offers excellent and timely support as required. Analysing the company and communicating with them will give you an idea of whether the company focus on long term relationship, or just a one off sale.

Taking the time to communicate with the prospective web design company beforehand… will enable you to select the right web design company to partner with that will meet your expectations. Finding the right web design company and forming a relationship can be a valuable asset for your business for many years to come.

Ten years ago, satellite internet sounded like something right out of a science fiction movie. Five years ago, we knew a lot more about satellite internet access, how it worked and how to get it, but the prices were so expensive that only huge corporations and wealthy entrepreneurs would be able to afford the service. These days, thankfully, the cost of satellite network access has come down drastically in price as the technology to make it work has improved, and become much more reliable, stable and affordable.

So, what is satellite internet access and how does it work? It is simply using satellite communications to generate a stable and fast internet connection for anyone, anywhere in the world. Typical homes and businesses rely on land connections, either through dial-up (telephone lines), DSL (”supercharged” telephone lines), or cable (coaxial cable). These services are all reliable and are all very affordable, but they’re not for everyone. Military operations that are continually on the move, for example, would be hard pressed to remain tied down to a cable modem. National Guard troops who are at sea for extended lengths of time would be unable to make use of a traditional connection to the internet. Merchants and groups that are frequently on the move and on the road would not be able to have an internet connection the “old fashioned way” either.

It’s for these people and really anyone who would want to explore the possibility of Mobile Satellite, that could take advantage of the freedom that satellite internet access can offer. Satellite internet providers make connections to the internet available via satellites that are carefully positioned over the earth’s equator. Signals are then sent to the recipient on a downstreaming (downloads) connection, with speeds up to 500 kbps, and on an upstreaming connection (uploads), with speeds up to 50 kbps. While these numbers sound small, you must remember that satellite systems are roughly ten times faster than the average cable or DSL modem.

To use Satellite Internet you would first need to search for satellite internet providers. Once you have found one whose services, features, and prices agree with you and your budget, you can then proceed to setting up an account with them. In order to set up the connection you would need an area on or around your home that has a clear view of the south (towards the equator). This is where you would mount your satellite dish. You would also be given two modems — one for uplinking and one for downlinking, and lines of coaxial cable to hook up the modems to the dish.

With the downturn in the economy encompassing nearly every aspect of our lives, businesses large and small are feeling the pinch. MarketingSherpa recently published a survey stating that over 60% of large companies are unceremoniously planning on slashing their marketing budgets significantly this year.

With smaller marketing budgets, companies are hunting for cost-effective, measurable solutions to sagging sales figures. This naturally leads to online marketing in order to generate new prospects and customers. Surprisingly, many sales and marketing heads don’t know enough about the true power of web marketing and the latest tips and tricks to take full advantage of its cost-effective nature.

“It all starts with a powerful, search engine-friendly website,” says Jon Wuebben, author of “Content Rich: Writing Your Way to Wealth on the Web” (Encore Publishing). “Companies today need to focus on the words they are using to communicate with their prospects and how they leverage this content in order to maximize their online exposure. In a time when more companies are chasing fewer prospective customers, ensuring your online copy is strong and then accessing the viral nature of the web to get it out there, can put you well on your way.”

Wuebben says if you want to begin harnessing the power of cost-effective online marketing, here are 7 quick and easy tips to follow:

1. The Copy on Your Website Should Be Conversational. Connect directly with your potential customer by writing copy in the conversational style you would use in speaking with them directly. Not only will it immediately appeal to your visitors, but it also enables your message to be easily understood.

2. Use Bulleted Lists. Long strings of sentences which create long paragraphs are hard for people to read and will tire their eyes. Convert the features and benefits that you promote on each page into bulleted lists. These will pop out of the page when your prospect is scanning through. The result? They won’t miss any important details or sales points about why your product or service is so valuable.

3. Limit the Amount of Words Per Page. Each page of your website should be limited to 350 words. If you have more than this, you need to re-evaluate your copy and make some cuts. A wordy webpage can overwhelm to the point where your prospect may leave. So instead of being “copy-heavy” try to be “quality-heavy.”

4. Is Your Copy Interesting to Read? Ask yourself the following questions about your website. Does the copy grab you? Is it interesting and informative? Is there variety in the copy layout? No’s all around? Then you need to edit that copy and create a more engaging read for you visitor.

5. Use Headings and Subheads. Like bulleted lists, they break up the page and give the eye something to focus on. A prospect visiting your site will need you to direct them, and this is a great tool to get them to zero-in on specific information.

6. Use the AIDA (Attention, Interest, Desire, Action) Method. Your website and its copy should grab the reader’s attention, build their interest, and create desire so they will take action - in that order. This method will bring you closer to closing the deal with your prospect.

7. Ask for the Sale. Make sure that the copy includes specific “calls-to-action” which compel your visitors to the next step in the sale. Are the words “Order Now” found next to your product? Is the phrase “Click here to get your free newsletter” visible anywhere? Add these calls-to-action as they promote the visitor to take a more active and involved approach.

No matter how aesthetically appealing your website is, writing compelling website copy is a good first step in helping to turn your prospects into life-long customers. In Wuebben’s book “Content Rich: Writing Your Way to Wealth on the Web” he also emphasizes the need for SEO (search engine optimization) and off-page factors like link building to drive more prospects to your website. “The combination of winning copy and strategic SEO will put your website on the right track to make your business a success.”

No matter which services or products your business is marketing using the Internet, others are doing the same. Luckily, there are lots of clicks to go around and the internet provides opportunities for many similar businesses. You don’t necessarily have to be the first nor the best to be successful. Besides professional web design, you need to be found and you need stand out. Once a potential client arrives at your website you only have their attention for a short time. At a glance, potential clients need to quickly find what they are looking for.

Make your content easy to read. Although this is obvious, it is surprising how many websites have illegible text and graphics - content which feels compressed or stretched apart. Keep in mind that most people don’t read words one letter at a time, but rather as a complete unit. If the wording is not easily read it will most likely not be read at all. Have coworkers, friends and family proof the website’s readability, and then collect their feedback. If it’s within your budget, hire a copywriter to review your website and make changes where appropriate. Your web developer should include this as part of their services.

Graphics are great, but only when they assist in understanding the message. All pictures should be clear and obvious. Too often pictures are not crisp and sharp, and not understandable. When using pictures to display your products or services, they should be the focus of the image, to not confuse your visitors. While commonly used stock photos are sometimes valuable, when displaying your products it is best to use custom photography or graphic design.

There is no room on a website for spelling or grammatical errors. Some common typographic errors include incorrect or inconsistent line or character spacing, incorrect, missing, or extra punctuation. Grammatical errors are equally as unimpressive. At the least, run your website content through a spelling and grammar check before posting it online for the world to read. The quality of a website’s content is a reflection of the business as a whole. As your website is an extension of your business, sloppiness and carelessness leave a bad impression on your visitors. If high quality is not represented through your website, poor quality is demonstrated towards your business’ products and services.

Occasional errors may slip through the system. When this happens and when later pointed out, they must be dealt with immediately.

There are additional benefits to proofing and re-proofing your website. Product, price, and service changes can sometimes be forgotten, especially for businesses that are new to the Internet. Far too often websites are the last thing to be updated when processing a change throughout a business, if they are remembered at all.

Customers do not trust businesses with websites that are hard to read, hard to understand, and which are out of date. Careless mistakes and sloppy, confusing, or out-of-date information are a reflection of your business in general.

Classified ads can be very effective in online marketing. Free classifieds ads fit into every budget. It all comes down to how much time you are willing to spend creating, posting, updating and deleting ads. Depending on your particular product or service, it can be time-consuming to respond to interested parties, deliver goods or services and maintain a high level of customer service.

Selling through free classified ads can help you promote your business. Include your company’s name, product information and a website link in your ads to gain more attention. Include pictures whenever possible to give customers a better idea of what they can expect if they make a purchase from you.

The Benefits of Promoting on Classified Ad Sites
Aside from saving you money in advertising costs, placing ads on free classified sites has many other benefits.

These include:

Targeted traffic directed to your website.

Instant posting.

Few rules regarding what can be posted.

The opportunity to test your ad copy at no cost before placing ads on websites that draw more traffic but charge a fee.

The ability to track your visitors and gauge how successful each ad is.

The ability to build your opt-in list and follow up with potential customers.

Tips for Promoting Your Business Using Free Classified Ads
Promoting your business with free classified ads is relatively easy. Still, there are some steps that can make your campaign more successful. Keep these tips in mind:

Familiarize yourself with the terms of the classified ad site before posting. This will help you avoid having your ads deleted.

Place ads frequently for better results. Update weekly to keep your posts at the top so you get more views.

Remain professional, both in your classified ads and in dealings with potential customers.

Make sure your ad shines and stands out from the crowd without being too loud or obnoxious.

Include keywords to help targeted customers find your ads.

Classified Ads and Niche Marketing
One particularly effective way to get more targeted traffic from your free classified ads is to choose sites that are very specific in nature. For example, if you own a company that sells creative and unique baskets, then you can place your ad on a site for gifts. If you own a used car dealership, however, the gift site is not going to work for you. You can advertise in the automobile section of a general site, but you can also search for classified ad sites that are specifically geared toward car enthusiasts. The key is that visitors to these sites will already be interested in what you have to offer.

Traditional Advertising Versus Online Marketing
The advertising world has changed a lot over the last decade. Traditional print ads are not as effective as they once were. They also can be costly. Online marketing is the most effective way to promote a business, whether it is an online business or actually has a storefront. Free classified ads should certainly be included in your marketing strategy. Carefully track your website traffic to gauge how effective each ad is, and then make adjustments as needed. Online marketing is here to stay. Avoiding this valuable tool is like shutting the door on potential customers.

When it comes to increasing web traffic and optimizing your website for search engines, external links to your site are the key. In general, the more websites that link to your site the better. But first, it’s important to know the basics about links.

A link is simply a means of navigating from one webpage to another. An internal link takes you to another page within the same website, while an external link takes you to a completely new website. The term back-link refers to another website providing a link to yours. Back-linking is great for getting your website exposure.

Links can also take on different forms. Being able to recognize and identify the various types is important. The 4 main types of links are: -URL Link: A website’s URL listed out as a link. -Text Link: (also known as Static Link). This is when a word or a phrase is clickable and takes you to another place. -Image Links: When clicking on an image navigates you to another page. -Dynamic Links: Inbound links from websites where the page is dynamically generated via a database query. Besides allowing visitors to navigate around the web, links are also important to computer programs used by popular search engines called spiders. Spiders crawl around the internet gathering information about various sites and then index those sites. This is why the more links to your website that exist on the web, the higher your ranking will be on search engines like Google and Yahoo.

Different Links, Different Values
Not all links are created equally in the search engines’ eyes. One-way-links which occurs when another website links to you but you don’t link back to them-are more valuable to the search engines than reciprocal links. Search engines also assign value to links based on various factors, such as the link’s relevance to your site, the text around the link, and the authority the website that links to you has.

There are also links that mean nothing at all to search engines. Dynamic links and links that have no follow codes built into them are of no value to spider programs. However, that doesn’t mean they should not be used on your website. While a link that cannot be followed by a search engine spider may not be useful from a search engine optimization perspective, it can still provide increased traffic and visitors to your website.

Ideally, your website should contain links of all types, but should contain more high quality links than anything.

What are High Quality Links?
High quality links are those that produce Page Reputation and PageRank, both of which are ranking methods used by Google. Linking to target keywords is one way to get higher rankings for your website.

Anchor text are links that appear as words that can be clicked, and they are very valuable in the eyes of search engines. The clickable text should always include some of the primary and secondary keywords that you have identified in your keyword research. Because anchor text links are higher quality than URL links, remember when building one-way links to use them as much as possible.

Don’t let your focus on keywords and links compromise the quality of your site’s content. It’s important to make sure you have valuable, relevant content on your website for actual people, and not just filler pages loaded with your target keywords. Google’s spiders have figured out how to spot those who try to cheat the system that way with technology called Latent Semantic Indexing. Basically, this means that their programs are able to analyze all of the words on your page and how they relate to each other, easily spotting and disregarding nonsense pages loaded up with keywords.

Be Selective with Targeting your One-Way Links
When targeting your one-way links, be aware that Google also ranks your site based on the relationship between your site’s content and the content of the sites that link to you. One way links from sites with content similar to yours (i.e. yours is a pet related site and other pet related sites link to you) rank higher than one way links from sites with very different content.

One final word of advice: Think twice about paying another person to link to your site; if caught, your site can be banned from the ranking system all together. Instead, focus on building your links legitimately by taking advantage of as many social media networks you have time for, and also by blogging.

Content management systems remain to be a big question mark to some web developers and web marketers. They are missing an important factor in website development by being naive to CMS. To help webmasters and web developers get the benefit of CMS, here are some of the frequently asked questions about CMS and their answers:

What is CMS?
CMS stands for “Content Management System”. This is a system that helps in maintaining an expanding website. It aims to make content and structure expansion easier.

What does CMS create?
Content management systems store data in a database. It makes pages only when a site visitor asks or searches for it. This is useful especially for websites that constantly update their information. So when a site visitor asks for a specific page, the system will display the page being searched for. Some systems cache every new page and create a new one only when some changes are made.

Is CMS useful in publishing sites on different platforms?
Content management systems are very useful in ensuring that your website appears at its best in different platforms. CMS allows you to create different templates that are suitable to different platforms. This can be done without changing anything with the content.

Is CMS being used now?
Most large organizations are already using content management systems. Many companies prefer to use CMS because of its promising features and benefits in terms of web content, structure maintenance, and its tremendous potential for expansion.

What is the cost of CMS?
The cost varies depending on the supplier. Some may charge a large amount but also include training on its usage. Others are cheap and sometimes even free.

Will there be website restrictions if I use CMS?
Content management systems often break up the presentation and content by using templates. There are systems that restrict templating and some that do not. There are also systems that impose restrictions on how the site is hosted. So when looking for a CMS, consider asking the supplier about the restrictions of the system.

Can I use my existing data base?
In choosing a CMS service, be sure that the system can be easily linked to your existing database. This makes everything much easier. Easy linking of the existing database with the system is often a big relief for website owners.

If you aim to create effective and powerful web pages, it is crucial for you to have an in-depth understanding of the five basic elements, fundamental to web-page designing.

These five elements are:

Lines and line work

Shape

Texture

Color

Direction

How lines figure in the web page design - Lines are basic elements of web designing that are used to add style. Along with contributing to style, lines serve to enhance readability and comprehension of a design. They can be used either as a border around an element or as a divider to separate different elements. Lines can also be used as decorations or for accentuating contours around elements.

Shapes in web-designing - Shapes as basic design elements are made up of closed contours and/or by placing 2 dimensional or 3 dimensional objects in the design. Shapes can be categorized into three basic types: geometric, natural and abstract. They are used to convey meaning, organize information and can be used in several other ways also. For example, they can serve to add interest, sustain interest, guide eye direction around the design and help organize/separate elements in the design. Geometric shapes in design consist of rectangles, squares, circles, triangles and diamonds and are usually created by layout and CSS. Natural shapes, as the name suggests are those, which are commonly found in nature such as trees, ponds, puddles and leaves etc. Abstract shapes refer to those, which though possessing a recognizable form are in fact, not real. For example, a stick figure drawing of a horse is an abstract shape different from that of the picture of a real horse, which constitutes a natural shape. Abstract shapes are added in web-designs by using images. Some examples of abstract shapes are alphabet glyphs, icons, symbols etc.

Texture - Texture in website designing refers to a feel of the surface of the webpage and is the tactile part of the elements of web-design. Although texture of a webpage is visual, you are able to generate an illusion of smoothness/roughness/hardness or softness through introducing natural or artificial textures in your design. Texture in web-design is applied in several ways; e.g. through suitably textured backgrounds, special emphasis or by using stylized design features such as etchings or engravings. Incorporating texture in web-pages through background images is the most commonly used technique. You must however, remember that even when you do not use a special texture background, things may still possess an approximate texture. For example, images without backgrounds will have the texture of the images. Moreover, several elements present on a page provide a combination to present a textured look.

Color - Color is one design element to which all website designers pay the most attention. However, color is not an essential element of designing. The best way is to create a design in black and white and later on add color in bits to enhance design effects. Color is used in designs, in images, backgrounds, text foregrounds and accents. While in the foreground, colors are used in fonts and text color, in the background color is used to change the background of the element in the foreground. Color is also applied to borders around elements. It is added to web pages through images/photographs. For flat color GIF images and for photographic and multi-color JPEG images are used.

Direction - this is one of the most important aspects of web-design. An intelligently designed site incorporates a sense of direction across the design, meant to deliberately lead the visitor’s eye to whatever the designer wants the viewer to see. Direction can be horizontal, vertical or diagonal.

Here is another hint at that.

You can now easily watch TV shows whenever you want on your computer with this new player. The selection of shows and channels will no doubt grow over time, but they actually already have quite a lot to choose from.

We have long been able to go to an individual station’s site and watch their online shows, but now a dedicated player is attempting to pull all of the different stations into one place and through one medium. With Adobe now dominating the web market, they might just pull it off. We cannot help but wonder how closely DVR and TiVo manufacturers are watching this new development…

To see more on their website and download it go to http://www.adobe.com/products/mediaplayer/.

When you build your website you need to have a plan first. The reason for this is that if you do not have a plan, you will likely make mistakes, forget to include information, and overall have an unorganized and poorly thought out website. While you might browse some of the pages and completely understand everything, remember that your visitor did not design the pages and may need a little bit more direction. Below are 10 website blunders that are common and will make your visitors head to another site quickly.

1) Contact Information
You need to provide your contact information, phone numbers, e-mail addresses, and physical address if important. The reason for this is if a potential customer wants to contact you for whatever reason they need to be able to!

2) Poor Organization
Make sure your website is well organized and that all of your links are obvious. You should even use subheadings to make it even more clear where the information is. You don’t want to make people search.

3) Checkout
Make the checkout process is straightforward and easy. Too many times people get to the checkout and it is difficult, it asks for a lot of unnecessary information, or it generally takes longer than the customer wants to spend buying the product. As a result, the potential customer leaves your site to buy elsewhere. Don’t let this happen to you, make your checkout fast and easy!

4) Typos
If your website has typographical errors, it will be noticed by your visitors. Many people consider this a sign of a novice, rather than a professional who is in business trying to make a living. If your website is full of typos, people are not going to believe that you take your site seriously and as a result they won’t either.

5) Hidden Information
Do not hide information. You as a webmaster might not think the information is hidden, but if it is not readily visible… it might as well be hidden. Make all information obvious and easy to find.

6) Personal Information
Do not ask for personal information, and if you do, explain why and do not make it mandatory. Many times people will want to buy your product and once they finally get to the checkout page, they then have to answer a lot of personal questions first. This will send people to other less interrogative websites.

7) Too Many Forms
Keep it simple. If you are asking for memberships, checkouts, or anything that requires information, do not use a lot of forms. Figure out what questions you really need to ask and keep it short and sweet.

8) You, Not We
Focus on your customers, their needs, and what you can do for them. Your customer is not going to your page to find out about you, but what you can do for them. Remember this and if you have to put a history about yourself, then do so in a special section where people can opt to read it.

9) Help People Make a Decision
People might not know what they want when they go to your website. So, lead them, make suggestions about products, and provide backgrounds and uses for different products.

10) Focus
Make sure the focus of your site is obvious and clear from the first page of your site to the last.

How does it help me to stand out?

1. Team Communication. Companies use blogs internally to communicate project status to stakeholders and managers. It beats clogging everybody’s email with mass broadcasts. It allows these missives to be archived, indexed and easily searched.

2. Enrich Your Clients. You can easily link to articles and resources relevant to your readers and their needs. You can more easily attract experts to provide value-added content to your audience.

3. Get to Know Your Customer. Nobody buys from someone they do not know. Blogging allows you to demonstrate your expertise and point-of-view quickly and easily. In addition, blogs allow the customers to receive your updates in the format they choose.

4. Collaborate. You can create your own marketing buzz to drive attention and buyers to your products and services. Some companies use internal blogs to report on projects or to track work groups distributed around the world.

5. Research and Development. Weblogs are the perfect forum to test out new ideas and receive instant feedback. You can allow others to see how you develop your products and services, and at the same time, they can tell you how best to serve them.

6. Go Global. Blogs, like other online media, allow you to take your business and ideas to a global market. Translation services are getting better every day, allowing more people to read online content in different languages.

7. Hidden Entrance to the Press. Journalists are busier than ever and blogs provide a virtual directory of pundits on any topic. You and your company can be the content expert they are looking for. Furthermore, if your company is talked about in the blogosphere it could end up using that exposure as a back door to the press.

8. Get Published. Publishers are turning to blogs to find new writing talent. Blogs can give a publisher a taste of your writing style as well as a sample of your depth of knowledge. Content specific blogs show a commitment to a certain topic or subject matter.

9. Write your book. Let your readers help you write your latest book or article. Post chapters or ideas, then let readers help you in researching, testing and suggesting ideas. Or, use a blog after your book is published to update the material or to answer questions from readers.

10. Success Stories. Invite clients to blog about their successes with your products and services - it is like a living testimonial that never ends. As clients share their experiences, your prospects can see first-hand how you can help them, too.

Years of experience and fine tuning digital cameras every day makes the choice clear for them. For the rest of us, a new camera purchase can be a daunting experience. I know when I first got into digital cameras the technology seemed a little intimidating- but it doesn’t have to be. Here’s a short guide with ten things to look for when, as an amateur photographer, you’re ready to replace that antique sitting on the top shelf of the closet.

1. Resolution – When digital cameras first came out, it was all about the megapixels. There was a wide variety of sizes (and prices) available- however, now most of even the smallest digital cameras are 5 megapixels, which is more than adequate for your typical 4×6 vacation photos and the occasional 8×10. The time to go larger is when you want to regularly create larger pictures- or you want to be able to zoom in on areas of specific detail and print those. The compromise you must make for those larger pictures is more space used on your memory card, so if you get a higher megapixel camera, make sure to pick some extra cards.

2. Exposure control – For most amateurs, aperture size and shutter speeds are a mystery. What should I use when? The manufacturers have addressed this with scene preset modes. Picking the correct mode allows you to select the proper settings of, for example, a close-up by simply clicking ‘Macro Mode’ instead of manually configuring the camera. If you’re interested in digital cameras as a hobby, manual configuration options are something you should look for.

3. Zooms –There are two types of zoom available, optical zoom and digital. The one you should really pay attention to is optical zoom- pictures using optical zoom are sharper. Also understand that when the camera is using the higher magnification settings, it will be more vulnerable to shaking, so you may want to pick up a tripod if you’ll be using that zoom most of the time.

4. Size – Take a little time to think about what you’re going to be using your camera for. There’s always a tradeoff between size and functionality- here’s a quick summary:

a) Ultra Compact – small, light pocket sized cameras. Some may have fewer features.
b) Compact - fit in a modest camera case, great for point and shoot pictures.
c) Advanced - more functionality here along with more size. Typically we see buttons for modes as opposed to menus (which saves having to navigate), better zooms, and they also accept accessories (lenses, filters, etc.)
d) Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) – Heavy and large, these offer the best functionality; typically professionals and serious photographers use them.

5. Weight – Hand in hand with size is camera weight. Generally speaking, more features equals more weight, so think carefully about what you really need. A small, light camera with fewer features is a better choice if you want to take it everywhere and get lots of pictures, as opposed to a heavy monster you dread having to lug and only use once in a while.

6. Batteries –Basically batteries come in two formats, proprietary battery packs, and then there are cameras that accept AA batteries. If you get a camera with the proprietary pack, it’s worth it to purchase another one as backup, because invariably you’ll want to take a picture and the battery will die. I recommend getting a camera that allows you to use AA batteries- if you need to buy a set in pinch you can, and you also have the flexibility of buying rechargeables and using them again and again.

7. Speed - When you are ready to purchase, be sure to check out the lag on button press. If you want to photograph things in motion (kids, pets, sports, etc) it can be very frustrating to try to snap that perfect picture and have the image captured 5 seconds later after the moment has passed. Some cameras offer continuous shutter mode, which allows you to snap pictures in sequence. For most amateurs 5 frames per second is adequate.

8. Manual Focus – part of the beauty of digital cameras is most of them take care of focusing for you. In some situations you may want the ability to manually focus to bring out detail.

9. Low Light Modes – Some cameras have auxiliary lights to help focus or even night vision mode. If you’re going to be taking pictures at night, it’s worth the money to add this to your checklist.

10. Accessories - Most people focus exclusively on the camera, and the accessories are an afterthought. Depending on where you buy your camera, you may be able to get a package deal that includes things you would have to buy anyway, like a case, memory cards, extra batteries and the like. If you buy your camera in a camera store don’t be afraid to negotiate, many will give you a better price or throw in extras like photography lessons.

When you buy a digital camera there’s no need to be intimidated, just do some research online and have an idea of what you want to do with your camera, create a list of important points, and then buy with confidence.

Flash technology has already proved itself to be one of the most effective and reliable means of professional website creation. This technology more and more wins the general approval and gains the popularity all over the Internet. Flash technology or interactive web animation technology was developed and distributed by Macromedia Company. It combines a great deal of technological solutions in the sphere of multimedia presentation of the information. The Flash development was mostly oriented towards the vector graphics what helped to realize all basic multimedia elements: motion, sound and object interactivity. But for all that, the size of these programs is minimal and they do not depend on a user’s screen resolution and web browser. These two aspects in their turn are the main requirements made to the Internet projects.

The main feature of Flash technology is that it can perfectly replace any ordinary web page based on HTML. And here we may see essential advantages of Flash over HTML. Flash editors allow you to create dynamic scenes with different objects and describe the processes that will be performed during playback. The event-driven language ActionScript serves exactly this purpose. Of course, you may use GIF animation to create living and bright effects, but GIF file consisting of many images saved in one, is remarkably bigger than a regular image and takes a lot of time to load. And in this case you cannot control the animation as in Flash. Flash movies are in many ways similar to java applets, but it is easier to create Flash animations because java applets require programming skills.

Without a doubt Flash makes the web site more dynamic, interactive, eye-catching and impressive. It allows you to use more sound and graphic effects. The programs required for web pages creation are shareware, and Adobe gives the opportunity to use them freely during thirty days. All of the software required for viewing Flash pages is absolutely free. For this purpose you only need to install a special plug-in. But in most cases Flash page itself defines the absence of the required software and automatically downloads it; and only after that the page becomes visible.

Indisputable advantage of Flash is the possibility to create colorfully animated dynamic, interactive pages of very small size that are ideal for use on the Internet. Different types of web sites ranging from complex company applications to online stores, promo-sites, newspapers, magazines and entertainment portals get their benefits from Flash animated effects. If a web master has a purpose to present a small amount of information, for example advertising information, in the most detailed way, he should definitely use Flash to win a success. Moreover, Flash web templates become very popular among web professionals as well as amateurs who aspire to develop a captivating professional website without spending much time, money and efforts. Flash website templates are pre-made designs that just require additional customization to suit the needs of your project. This kind of web templates harmoniously combines theme-based graphics, action effects and sound accompaniment.

Flash technology is one of the perfect ways for creating multimedia presentation with the help of which you may tell about your company, form a good impression on your potential customers and provide a basis for further cooperation. Also multimedia presentation helps you announce new products and services giving a lot of useful information in the suitable interactive way. Due to the Flash animation this kind of presentations greatly differs from the traditional advertising means and gains a foothold in the market of computer technology. So, that’s why there is no wonder that big companies tend to use websites with Flash. But if you own a small personal website (whether online portfolio, weblog or personal gallery) and looking for the best solution for you to attract visitors’ attention, a website integrating Flash and HTML will be right for you.

Thus, Flash technology allows you to develop fully interactive websites for different purposes. Using Flash you can create a really unique design, navigation, and easily organize the dialogue with a customer.

Nowadays, bloggers are seeking to make money from blogging focusing their interests across multiple revenue streams. Ok, let’s go directly to the point.

Key #1 - Add Good Content
The king on Internet is content. Great content is always better than any ad. Today’s people are not interested on reading ads. If it is only a website that just sits there doing nothing, you can be sure that the reader is going to leave your blog as fast as a thorn.

You need to select a topic that you would like to talk about in your blog and this way add some content about it. Bear in mind that to be successful, your content needs to be useful and unique to your readers. Bring together both elements in your content, Useful and Unique and you will be closer to a successful blog.

You can ask how can I know that this is a good content? Your readers will quickly discern if you are or not passionate about your topic. The main questions you have to ask are: Is the Topic Popular? What about my competition? Please don´t go for the most popular topics unless you know the competition you are facing!
Here are some places to check out on your topic, looking for some news about it: Google News, Yahoo! News, Technorati and Blog Pulse (among others).

Key #2 - Use various streams of income
Advertising Programs - One good way to make money from your blog is with Google Adsense placing Google ads on your blog. Whenever someone clicks on one of the ads on your blog you will get paid per click. A more recent addition that many are using successfully are Chitika’s eMiniMalls and Amazon.com.

Other streams that work for some Bloggers, are donations and text links ads. Sometimes if your content is free, you can give your visitors a means to voluntarily contribute, of course if they wish. It converts a win-win game. Donations could be a good stream of income.

On the other hand, if you want to receive a fixed amount per month from people interested in your blog you can use also “text link ads”, putting some links in your page with their products.

Key # 3.- Generate traffic
First of all you must know why you want more traffic to your site, because traffic itself means nothing, unless you want it to convert prospects to buyers, and obviously track them.

I suggest you two ways to do it. The best way to have a lot of free traffic coming into your site and have a high-ranking on Google and the other Search engines, is having as many links as you can coming to your site from other sites, and more specifically from blogs. Do you know that search engines love blogs? The interesting point here is that search engines give to the good blogs high rankings for the subjects they cover.

Other good method for promoting your website and attract more traffic is to write articles and submit them to article directories. You can edit your blog posts into articles and submit them to blog and ezine directories. You can also submit your blog and RSS Feed. This will increase your traffic too.

So you have been hearing all about these blogs that are all the rage lately in the internet world. However, you have yet to start one of your own, and pretty much figure that you are the last person on earth that does not have one. While you may think that this is true, you are going to be shocked that not everyone has a blog, and most of those that do, have them for internet blog marketing purposes. Internet blog marketing is all of the rage just as much as blogs are. When you talk about internet blog marketing, you are meaning that you use the internet to market things on your blog. That would be the most simplest way to put it.

Marketing things on the internet is not as easy as it was just a few years ago. Everyone is into marketing online because of the pay per click programs that everyone wants a part of. And that means that the competition is fierce. In order to market things online and become successful at it, you need to choose a market. You cannot just use one single blog to market a number of things unless they are all relevant. If you tried, you would really get nowhere and fast.

So, choosing your market is even kind of hard to do. Some people will tell you to choose low competition markets to begin with, that have many searches. However, other people will tell you to choose something that you know and love, and that you are passionate about. Even something that you can be known as an expert about. When you do so, you gain trust in the internet world, and many people will know you for your market and your views on it. And that in return will make you successful. However, you must truly know what you are talking about, or you will be found out. It has even been known that some will choose a topic to become an expert on, and when they do, learn all that they can about it before they begin to promote it. Even if they never knew much about it to begin with.

Internet blog marketing is still easier for some than others. It is easier the sooner you get started with it. Because the internet changes every day and things are not all ways the same, the faster you learn the best marketing techniques and tools now, the easier it will be for you once they change and start to become more complicated.

Not only does the internet change frequently, so do the search engines. For example, Google changes about four times a year. You will find that when it does go through a change and updates everything, your page ranks are different, and so are your search rankings. When you might have been in the number two spot on Google search for 3 months, after they go through a change you just might find yourself to be on page three.

Internet blog marketing is all about knowing and becoming familiar with the internet. The more you know about it the better off your blogs will be. However, if you are just starting out, don’t get discouraged, you can still learn everything that you need to in order to become successful at blog marketing.

Harnessing the marketing power of your blog is an excellent strategy for growing your business. With the many benefits of blogs, including SEO and developing customer loyalty, even Fortune 500 companies are jumping on the bandwagon. However, utilizing blogs is not as simple as writing articles that optimize your company’s keywords.

Seeing your blog as an extension of your marketing and branding efforts is the key to maximizing the benefits of blogging. Remember, the purpose of your blog is to attract your target customer base – and keep them coming back for more. With that said, there are several strategies you can utilize to maximize the marketing power of your blog.

What does your blog say about your company?
A major element of your marketing efforts is brand congruency. McDonald’s, Apple, Nike, and the other highly successful global organizations have achieved their status through intelligent, congruent branding. Keeping this in mind, it is critical that your blog stays in line with your branding efforts. Readers see the blog as a personal extension of the company, and thus, it is important that it reflects the same character of your branding strategy.

For example, if you run an online party supplies store that is known for creativity, then make sure your blog reflects that branding. Include innovative party ideas, such as themes, unique DIY decorating tips, and recipes. This creates significant value with your target customer base, while keeping in line with the creative branding your company employs.

How is your blog valuable to your target customer?
Although blogs are indeed beneficial for SEO purposes, the most power you can generate from your blog stems from attracting your target customer. With this in mind, carefully evaluate how valuable your blog postings are to your client base. Put yourself in their shoes; would you bookmark your blog and come back regularly?

One strategic – and easy – way to increase the value of your blog is to create specialized content. Positioning yourself as a specialist and expert in the field not only provides value to the customer, but inherently reinforces the legitimacy of your company.

For example, if you are a recruiting firm, then your blog should discuss pressing HR issues that your clients would find valuable. You could expound upon changing laws, new legal rulings, powerful interview questions, and background check tools. Not only do you reaffirm your expertise in recruiting employees, but you present very valuable information that would prompt your client base to become regular readers.

How does your blog stand out from the crowd?
With many of your competitors utilizing blogs, how can you compel your target audience to visit your blog? The key is to create innovative content that stands far above mediocre articles. While many blogs simply write average, keyword-rich articles for SEO purposes, make sure your blog shines with innovative content. Whether you infuse humor, compelling research, breaking news, or expert knowledge, writing interesting blog articles is the most powerful way to generate attention. Keep in mind that your goal is to create articles worthy of links – ones that other blogs and social networks will want to re-publish – and your content will easily stand out from the blogging crowd.

When you create innovative, valuable content that is in line with your branding strategy, your business can fully reap the benefits of blogging. Leave your competition in the dust as you jumpstart your marketing campaign with the power of today’s blog!

1. Three big no-nos on MySpace: Do not obscure the MySpace ad banner (or feature your own ad banners), spam, or feature inappropriate content. Any of these will almost guarantee that your account gets deleted.

2. While we strongly encourage using your MySpace design to the maximum benefit, remember that MySpace monitors the level of activity on every account. We recommend limiting your interactions to 200 or less per day to ensure that MySpace will not mistake you for a spammer.

3. Some graphic suggestions… Do not use a photo or busy graphic as a background to your content. An overwhelming background may distract the visitor from key points or messages within your page. Take advantage of a strong title graphic, and present the content in a way that isn’t distracting.

4. Do not clutter your MySpace page with “Which Hollywood Superstar are You?”, quizzes and other obnoxious widgets that don’t directly speak to your audience, at least if you expect to be taken seriously as a professional entity on MySpace. For tips on how to effectively market yourself or your business on MySpace please visit our MySpace Marketing Tips.

5. If you’re going to have your profile song on auto-start, make sure it’s easy listening or a nearly universally loved tune. This may be the deal breaker on whether or not a visitor returns. I have been known to repeatedly visit someone’s page based on their having a good song. I have also been known to immediately leave a profile before the page even completely loads due to something intolerable being played.

DO!

1. Choose a catchy MySpace URL. Chances are I won’t remember your unique page ID as the URL, so pick something I’ll remember, ideally using words from an existing domain of yours. Underscores are allowed. Remember once you choose a name you can’t change it without creating a new account!

2. Keep your content current and fun. Most people are visual and making a strong first impression with your MySpace design when a visitor comes to your page is important. Just as important is the strength and relevancy of your content, so keep those blogs and bulletins coming.

3. Choose your top 8 with care. Oddly, it is a significant factor in how people perceive your account. You may want to include certain organizations or groups which speak to your purpose or cause. You might also consider asking for a top friend exchange with someone who would return the favor and bring some extra traffic to your page.

4. Keep in touch with your network. We want news. We want gossip. We want the latest pic. So keep us in the loop through your blog, bulletin, a friendly comment or personal message. Don’t forget to add your website link too!

5. Remember, MySpace is “a place for friends.” Be a nice MySpacer.
